Alise Loebelsohn is a painter in Brooklyn. She studied painting at Pratt and at the Art Students League, and spent decades as a muralist and decorative painter.
She painted large murals with Richard Haas for Evergreene Painting Studios, and was New York City's only female billboard painter from 1987 to 1994. In 2001 she founded Pompeii Studios, whose commissions include Bryant Park.
The materials of that trade, Venetian plaster, mica powders, gold leaf and wax, now go into her panels.
