ZK Truth makes collages in the Hudson Valley from hand-cut magazines, newspapers and catalogs. He came to collage from digital and experimental media.
His subjects come from books, pop culture and sports, hockey among them.
Artist statement
My collage work transforms printed imagery by interrupting its original purpose and forcing it into new relationships. Through cutting and reassembly, familiar images are compressed, fractured, and redirected until their meaning becomes unstable. The work holds tension between what the material once communicated and what it communicates now. Interruptions and physical decisions remain visible, allowing the process of change to stay present in the finished piece. Fragments of text provide just enough context to allow the viewer to create the story themselves, completing the transformation in their own imagination.
